PTA 2010 State Convention
 California State PTA Convention

April 29 - May 2, 2010

Sacramento Convention Center

Registration Information:
·         Registration packets were mailed to the Unit Presidents in January.  If you did not receive one, a copy of the Registration packet is available on the State PTA website.
·         Registration Book available on line until April 20.   If you have trouble view this you may need to install Adobe Reader 8 (click here). 
·    Early Registration open February 1 -  March 31 
                §       On-line (credit card)  - February 1 - March 31
§       Via e-mail or regular mail (credit card or check) - February 1 - March 31
§       In person - April 28 - May 2

·         Registration Fees:

§       $140 Early Registration (by March 31)
§       $180 Registration (April 1 - 16)
§       $200 Late Registration (after April 16 or on-site)
§ $400 Non PTA Member Registration
§ $90 One Day Adult by March 31; $110 after March 31; $120 on-site 
§ NO REFUNDS
§ This Registration does not include Fourth District activities.  See the Fourth District section below for more information. 
·         Membership cards are REQUIRED to register.  Online registrants will be able to enter their PTA membership cards username and password to verify membership and will not be required to show card on site.  Mailed/faxed registrants can include a copy of their membership card with registration materials.  If membership is not verified with registration, you will be required to show your card on site, otherwise a non-PTA member fee will be assessed.
·         ON LINE Registration at www.capta.org.  You will need to know the National PTA number for your Unit.  This can be defined by a search while registering.
 ·         Register by March 31 to receive your name badge and workshop tickets at an address you choose.  Pick up your voting card and special tote bag at the Registration Booth upon arrival. 
 

Housing

·         Reservations can be made on-line, by mail or FAX from February 1 - April 5
         Book online - recommended method this year.

·        Changes or Reservations after April 5 must be made directly with the hotel
·         Headquarters hotel will be the Sheraton Grand Hotel. 
·         CUCPTSA recommends making reservations at the Hyatt Regency or Sheraton Grand.  PTA has reserved a block of rooms for delegates so it is strongly recommended that members take advantage of these discounted rates. 
·         Cancellations with full refund until March 1, 2010. 
       Cancellations on or after March 1 - deposits will be refunded less a $50 processing fee.  Cancellation within 72 hours of arrival will be charged one nights stay.
 

Estimated Costs

·        $140 - Registration (before April 1)
·        $99 - $165 double occupancy - Housing
·        $50 - Shuttle Round trip from the airport
·        $.35/mile - Transportation
·        $15 - Mandatory Fourth District fee
·        $45 - Fourth District Dinner
·        $18 - Mandatory CUCPTSA fee
·        $120 - 150 - Estimated round trip air fare
·        $1,000 - Estimated total cost for a full time delegate staying on site and attending all events

Scholarships
·        CUCPTSA has three (not to exceed) $1,000 scholarships available.  Scholarships cover Registration fees, hotel and airfare with submission of receipts for payment.
·        Unit Presidents have received CUCPTSA Scholarship application forms and information from Council via email. 
·        Applications are due to CUCPTSA by March 19. 2010.
 
·      Fourth District has two $500 scholarship grants available.  Scholarships cover Registration, District Fee and Fourth District Dinner.
·        Fourth District Unit Leadership Scholarship Grant Application.  
·        Applications are due to Fourth District by March 15, 2010 

Capistrano Unified Council
·        CUCPTSA Delegate Orientation Luncheon will be held at the Aliso Viejo Library Community Room on Thursday, April 22, 2010.  All delegates, especially first time delegates are encouraged to attend this orientation.
·         The CUCPTSA $18 fee is mandatory.  This covers the cost of the orientation, a tote bag and other small gifts.  The CUCPTSA fee should be paid along with the Fourth District fee and dinner on the CUCPTSA Convention Form due on April 15. 2010
·        CUCPTSA will organize an informational dinner gathering at a local restaurant on Saturday, May 1.
 
Fourth District
·        Fourth District Orientation - April 20, 2010 - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM 
 ·        Fourth District Orientation at 1520 Brookhurst #20 - Santa Ana.  Delegates may attend this orientation if they are not able to attend the CUCPTSA event.
·         The Fourth District $15 fee is mandatory.  Note:  this is a decrease from last year.
·          Fourth District Dinner is on Thursday, April 29.  Dinner Theme is “Captains Gala Dinner" - Cost is $45
·         Everyone is welcome to register and attend even if not attending the convention.
 
Fourth District/CUCPTSA Fees
·        Mandatory fees for the Fourth District and the Fourth District Dinner and CUCPTSA fees must be paid to CUCPTSA no later than April 14, 2010  
·         Payment and payment forms may be submitted at the April Council meeting or mailed to EvaMarie Morris at Aliso Niguel HIgh School.  The address is 28000 Wolverine Way - Aliso Viejo, CA  92656.
 
California State PTA
·        Town Hall Meeting with National PTA - Thursday, April 29 at 11:00 AM.
·         Rally on the Capitol - Thursday, April 29 at 2:00 PM.
·         Sleep in for PTA - Sunday, May 2.  Donation of $20 goes to the PTA Healthy Lifestyles Grant Fund.  Receive a free PTA sleep shirt and ribbon in recognition of modeling healthy sleeping habits. 
·         Keynote Speaker:
Fifth General Meeting, May 1, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM PM
